Model railways and country parks
Travelling by train was once a thrilling experience – not just a way to get from A to B. The GCRN encapsulates this perfectly. Staffed by volunteers with a real passion for preserving railway heritage, it offers an excellent day out for the whole family.
Don’t miss the model railways and vintage bus collection at Ruddington station, or the scenic country park just a short walk away. It also hosts a range of events throughout the year – check the calendar to plan ahead.
Travel on the GCRN (Great Central Railway Nottingham)
The GCRN runs between Ruddington and Loughborough Central station via East Leake (Rushcliffe Halt). Trains normally run on Sundays from April to October and on selected Saturdays and weekdays. There are additional special event days throughout the year.
Choose a single or return ticket, or a rover for unlimited all-day travel. There are group tickets for families, and children under 5 years old travel free.
Getting there
We run regular intercity and regional services to Loughborough. From here it’s a 20 minute walk to Loughborough Central.
